Ryan's PKU Foundation of Virginia is dedicated to providing a support network to individuals with PKU and their families; Promoting PKU wellness through increasing public awareness, developing and distributing educational materials, supporting research and sharing information among families.

Ryan's PKU Foundation of Virginia is dedicated to providing a support network to individuals with PKU and their families; Promoting PKU wellness through increasing public awareness, developing and distributing educational materials, supporting research and sharing information among families.

When the Foust family moved to Virginia from Maryland in 2005 they immediately began began looking for an organized support group as compared to Maryland (Maryland Alliance PKU Families - MAPKUF). After speaking with our geneticist and the state nutritionists we quickly learned Virginia did not have a designated group throughout the state. We quickly decided there was a need to form an organization to bring Virginia PKU families together.

Their youngest son Ryan was born with PKU and they believed naming the foundation after him would be best. So in April 2006, Ryan's PKU Foundation was officially formed and granted 501(c)(3) status.

The Foundation has now raised over $23K over 3 years. It has became stronger in the last year when more people became officers within Ryans's PKU Foundation of Virgina.  The diversity and outreach of the Foundation reaches all four corners of the state of VA. We are in direct contact with nutritionists through out the state and have acted as a liason for new pku families and pku families moving into the state.
