Thanks to a tick bite that needed to be checked by his primary care doctor, Owen has been diagnosed with hypoglycemia (and I probably spelled that wrong). We had already figured out what triggers most of the attacks and, with the Doctors advice, are working to eliminate some of them. The hardest part is getting Owen to eat 6 small meals a day. He barely eats two meals and a snack. I can see this becoming a long battle, but it must be done. I do not know of anyone with blood sugar issues and PKU. He will be seeing Dr. Wilson and his nutritionist on the 24th. We are really hoping to get some attention now that it has been diagnosed. It is so sad that adults with PKU are virtually ignored in some regions. I hope that this will not continue to be the case here.
As to the foundation, Owens new computer has been built and the pictures from past Walk-a-thons will be up on the site shortly. We have a disk of pictures but were waiting for the move, and his new computer, before putting them up. Did anyone attend the Town Hall meeting with BioMarin down by Busch Gardens? We should be attending the Richmond/Kings Dominion one on August 1st.
